Spent a little time on this one, copied the main site design off Battle.net as thuoght it was a nice layout i could use for our guild, only kept the style but all images have been changed, and i think it works well for our guild site, we also have a forum and team speak set up =) so go check it out.

We are still looking for members to our guild, finding recruitment hard and slow so with any luck this new site will let them come to us =)

So i brought a model of the U.S.S Voyager, which i have been constucting over the last cuple of days. I have deiced to take some images and include them in this post for you to see, i have decided that i will be installing lights into the model to make it more intresting, this project is something which seems to be going well so far =) ….. updates to come

I had already started some work before i had the idea to wright up about it. in the image above, i have added some colours and started to cut out the windows, it looks like a bit of a mess at the moment, but the windows were really boring to cut out, so i did it pretty quick, and then will go back over them tiding them up another night as well as adding more paint.

If your thinking about putting lights in a model i would recommend cutting the windows out before you start any painting, i would have done this first if i had thought about putting lights in before i started.

Lighting

I brought a pack of 3mm white 9V Wired LEDs off ebay,  I went for the pre wired LED’s because it would save me sometime and its been a while since i have done any electronics, and these LED’s have resistors and diodes already installed.

I have 1 red and 1 green flashing LED on each side of the ship, and 5 white LEDs to light the inside.

Tools used

Most of the items i needed to compleet this project were paint and paint bushes, but i decided to use some more items to make the job a little easer.

Cheep set of brushes to paint the model with

Pipettes were used to mesure out the paint, as some colours on the model required mixing.

This was used to cut out the windows, took some time and a little fiddly, i messed up a few cuts, but cant tell too much.

The soldering iron was used to wire the lighting up.

Glue gun is needed for glueing the LED’s in place.

I would have liked to include the making of for this, but i cannot seem to find my old college work, i have some images, so will give a brief description of the process behind the video, with the images i have:

First of i have to make the armature for the model i did this by using wire, and metal trunking, i then warped this in pluming tape.

I then made the model out of clay, how i wanted it to look when compleet, i took this clay model and pushed it in-between two blocks of styrofoam, when removed i pained both half’s with latex, and placed the armchair in and filled with metled play-do.

I then clamped both half’s together and left to dry.

I then began to add some details, and warped the model in self amalgamating tape for extra strength it also give the model an odd look which i liked.

I then Painted the model and started on the next one, using the same techniques as before.

After this i constructed a set.

and begin taking images one at a time.

Once this was shot, i used a video editing program and uploaded it to youtube:

Me and my Girlfriend play on the sever draenor and have our own guild called

I use an olympus e520 may be getting a bit out of date now, but still takes stunning pictures and i have an assortment of accessories to go with it as well, more about them to come soon.
